An initial contact will be made, right after we’ll have confirmed your membership, between you and our migration team in order for them to start working with you. You’ll be asked to provide our experts with a file containing your users’ addresses, passwords and aliases, to help them create your organization on our server. Accessing one or two of your accounts will allow them to perform tests and establish a migration date & time according to your needs and availability. Not to worry, however. These tests won’t impact your current activities.


A week prior to your migration date, one of our specialists will contact you to go over the first series of mandatory tasks to perform. This person will ask you to make a modification on the DNS server that hosts your domain name; doing so a week early will reduce your platform transfer time.

Under this expert’s supervision, you’ll create new Outlook profiles using a tool that requires a few simple clicks; this task is about preparing new profiles, not deleting existing ones. Our specialist will follow by making preliminary transfers towards the new server. He’ll recommend waiting a week before making any new major changes in your account once these transfers have been made.

On D Day, your email hosting solution will be directed to SherWeb’s Exchange servers. Your only task will be modifying the MX registration, which sends emails to the right messaging server. Our migration specialist will also explain how to update other entries.

A test will then be carried out from an external address to prevent the loss of emails, which will start the data transfer process. One by one, messages, from the most recent to the oldest one, will appear on the users’ new Outlook profile. This transfer can take up to 24 hours, depending on the size of the Inbox, which explains why you’ll need to be available for 2 consecutive hours that day.

The day following your migration, one of our team members will contact you to follow-up. He’ll make sure your migration process was successful and will provide answers to your remaining questions. He’ll also check with you if other services need to be migrated, i.e. SharePoint or archiving.
