Last month, Penton’s Technology Group released its Talkin’ Cloud 100 report of the top 100 cloud service providers. We’re proud to rank once again on the list; this time at position 33.
However, we aren’t fully comfortable with our Talking Cloud ranking (and no, it’s not because we didn’t rank first). Here’s why…
Thanks for the nod Talkin’ Cloud…
First, we want to be clear: We are honored to rank among Talkin’ Cloud’s Top 100. It’s always nice to be recognized for one’s success and hard work, especially in an industry undergoing rapid-fire growth and stiffening competition.
It’s also with some pride that we can say our list of industry awards and recognitions continues to grow. In July, we earned rare back-to-back Microsoft Hosting Partner of the Year honors, making us the only Microsoft partner to achieve consecutive Winner-Finalist honors in the history of this highly competitive category.
So we’re obviously bringing considerable value to the cloud industry.
…but we’re more than a CSA
While it’s true that we do offer a portal that allows our 4,000+ channel partners worldwide to access third-party cloud services such as Exchange 2013, SharePoint 2013 and Lync 2013, we also develop our own in-house cloud services. Our High Performance Cloud is just one example.
In our minds, this makes us more of a cloud services provider than a cloud services aggregator.
This distinction is more than just a question of semantics. Unlike other CSAs that have achieved impressive growth with savvy marketing techniques and repackaged third-party services, our success has been achieved through technological expertise. This expertise allows us to take third-party services and significantly enhance them to develop our own market-driven solutions.
Our being a CSP also means you have access to greater technical expertise
Take for example our recently launched Performance Cloud servers, which have been built on Microsoft’s virtualization technology. A CSA would have simply tweaked and repackaged Microsoft Azure.com and made it available to customers and partners through its portal. In our case, we took Microsoft’s virtualization technology and re-engineered it from the ground up with leading enterprise-grade components to offer a dedicated-cloud level of speed and performance that Azure could only dream of (along with Google, Amazon, Rackspace and DigitalOcean for that matter. For MSPs and VARs looking to tap into the growing demand for cloud services by adding SaaS, PaaS and IaaS to their offering, it’s important to not underestimate the benefits of having ready access to this degree of technological know-how.
