Good news come in pairs! We barely finished celebrating Sam Nadeau’s 2014 MERITIC Award that hoopla is called for again. This time, we’re happy to cheer for Rima Hatoum, Sherweb’s Hosted Exchange Product Marketing Manager, who’s being honored as one of the most influential women of the IT channel. Rima received this industry accolade from CRN, which is a leading technology channel publication.

As a hard working professional and a dedicated colleague, it is fitting that Rima should receive this prestigious honor, which is a testament to her years of effort in developing Sherweb’s flagship Hosted Exchange solutions. Since joining the organization in 2011, Rima’s work has allowed Sherweb to increase its service offerings, helping us become the leading SaaS provider that we are today.

As was emphasized in a blog post a few weeks ago, one of Rima’s biggest achievements is her push to distance Sherweb’s hosted Exchange offering from a “product only” mentality to a “solution” proposal. By identifying customers’ pain points, she was able to assemble product bundles and services that cater to the needs of small and large businesses alike.

Focused on developing Sherweb’s communication and collaboration solutions

Rima’s inclusion on this year’s Women of the Channel list can be attributed to the success of two projects in which her leadership, business acumen and work ethic were instrumental: Sherweb’s hosted Exchange 2013, which we were first worldwide to offer back in October 2012 and the release of Sherweb’s Compliance suite in 2013.

Rima continues to set her sight on the future of Sherweb’s communication and collaboration suite. As always, she’s on the look-out for new and innovative ways to improve an already well-rounded solution. One of the aces up her sleeve is to add a complete VoIP (Voice over IP) feature to Sherweb’s communication and collaboration bundles.

A unique but inspiring role-model

CRN asked the Women of the Channel who was their female role-model. Not surprisingly, names such as Sheryl Sandberg, Oprah Winfrey or JK Rowling came up and some even cited their own mother as inspiration. Rima, however, caught us off guard with a pick as unique as she is: Xena, the Warrior Princess.

As surprising a pick it may be for a well-rounded professional recognized as a channel authority, Rima convincingly spelled out why the fantasy heroine is a worthy role-model. “Xena embodies emotional, intellectual and physical strength, all while embracing her femininity. Xena is not your typical woman, neither physically nor in her attitude, and that is exactly what I like about her. She is independent and does not fit into a popular mold. She is a woman of integrity, even at the risk of being ostracized, she refuses conformity. That, to me, is strength and precisely what we need every day,” said Rima of her choice.

Rima strives to make Xena’s characteristic traits her own by being a strong leader with an unwavering go-getter attitude. With that mindset, she has made an enviable place for herself in the IT world where successful women are scarce.

Rima is a rising star and we are sure to hear about her innovative business solutions again soon, so stay tuned!
