Some MSPs can be pretty creative when it comes to attracting new clients for Office 365. In a recent case study, we told you about 403Tech, a Calgary IT solutions provider that offers its clients Office 365 mailboxes as part of its Managed Services offering.
403Tech won a Surface Pro 4 in a contest SherWeb held recently for its Office 365 resellers. Under the contest rules, every seat the partner sold was automatically entered to win. Hundreds of resellers entered the contest, which ran from April 1-30, 2016.
Manual Migrations Too Difficult
403Tech started working with SherWeb after migrating its own data to Office 365. Until then, the IT Solutions provider had been doing manual migrations to Office 365, a process that company president Scott Gallupe described as long and tedious.
“We were transferring files from a POP3 or IMAP system and then exporting them to a .PST file. If it was a large file, it would take hours, or even days to sync. Sometimes it wouldn’t work at all because the client’s bandwidth was being maxed out.”
Gallupe said having SherWeb handle its client migrations helped 403Tech reduce cutover time by 75% per user. This means it now takes only 15 minutes per user compared with the hour it took to do a manual migration. Gallupe said this is one of the reasons 403Tech has been actively pushing Office 365 to all its clients.
“Moving to SherWeb was a real no-brainer. Data is all migrated beforehand to save on the sync once the MX (mail Exchange) records have been changed. This makes our lives easier and the client is happier knowing when they open their inbox, all their mail is there safe and sound.”
