All eyes were on Toronto this month, the host city for Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference Awards. Sherweb won the Canadian Impact Award for Cloud Productivity Innovation. We were also named as a finalist for the Modern Marketing Innovation award and the Worldwide Hosting Partner of the Year.

The Microsoft awards are given out to hosting providers around the world to showcase the solutions they’ve built using Microsoft technologies. There are two specific award categories; one for Canadian partners (Impact Awards) and one for global partners (MPN Partner of the Year). The winners were announced on July 10.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized for the work we’ve done as a Microsoft technology partner,“ said Jason Brown, Sherweb’s Director of Product Management for Office 365.  ‟Specifically our efforts to promote Office 365 through Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Provider program. This has really helped Sherweb transform its business from a Hosting Provider to a true Cloud Solution Provider.“

Microsoft received about 120 nominations from Canadian hosting providers for the Impact Awards. The finalists were chosen in 16 categories ranging from Cloud Platform Innovation to Open Source on Azure.  Sherweb was also a finalist for the Modern Marketing Innovation award. This prize recognizes a partner who excels at developing campaigns using Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing, Content Marketing or Social Media to drive leads and opportunities.


Finalist for Top Hosting Award

As we mentioned earlier, Sherweb was a finalist for the Worldwide Hosting Partner of the Year award. This is one of Microsoft’s top honors. More than 2,300 nominations were submitted from more than 100 different countries for 37 global awards. Sherweb won this award in 2013 and was also a finalist in 2014.

Microsoft’s judges have their work cut out for them. They spend untold hours every year pouring through thousands of entries from hundreds of companies. So, what did Sherweb do to capture their attention? We kept it simple. We talked about how we use Microsoft’s products and technology to simplify the user experience and help our partners become more productive resellers. We spoke about Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program and how it has helped us fine-tune our business to offer better cloud services to our resellers and customers. We also showed how the CSP has helped our partners go to market faster to resell Office 365. Sherweb now has more than 500 active partners selling Office 365 and we’re adding more than 50 new partners every month.


Partners Drive Business in the Cloud

Our nomination also touched on our Partners First program. We spoke about the work we’ve done to help partners drive their business in the cloud. We presented our customized partner portal that allows resellers to manage all their accounts and data from one place. And we talked about how our partner program gives resellers the freedom to maintain control over the customer relationship to sell Office 365 by setting their own prices for product bundles, customer migration and managed services. Sherweb’s partner network currently has more than 5,000 partners.
