It is also available as a cloud-based service in Office 365.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Power BI simplifies the process of extracting and presenting data in dynamic and interactive data visualizations, all through easy drag-and-drop functionality<\/strong>. One good thing is that you can implement it in Dynamics 365 without writing any code.<\/p>\n<h5>There are many advantages that result from using this tool. Some of the most important benefits are:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating your very own analysis through Excel, using the same data that you have within Power BI.<\/li>\n<li>Automatic data refresh and reports publishing, allowing all users to avail themselves of the latest information.<\/li>\n<li>Transforming your enterprise data into rich visuals, thus extracting business intelligence for enhanced decision making.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let us discuss how one can integrate Power BI charts and data visualizations into Microsoft Dynamics 365 dashboards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/microsoft-dynamics-reseller\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here to sign up to our partner program and start reselling Dynamics 365 in less than 10 minutes<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Connecting Power BI to Dynamics 365<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Before attempting to add Power BI to Dynamics 356 dashboard, users must be able to access Power BI and to have at least one Power BI dashboard to reference.<\/strong> This is because we need a Power BI dashboard to import into Dynamics 365.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To do this, we are going to connect to one of the Content Packs made for Dynamics 365 inside Power BI<\/strong> (<em>a content pack is a collection of related documents or files that are stored as a group in Power BI that are related to a service<\/em>).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In <b>Dynamics 365<\/b>, Navigate to <b>Settings -&gt; Customizations -&gt; Developer Resources.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>Under <b>Developer Resources, <\/b>copy the following information: (https:\/\/\u201dyourtenant\u201d.crm4.dynamics.com) to a Notepad document. You do not need \u201capi\/data\/v8.2\u201d; Power BI will add this to the URL.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11285 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.18-AM.png\" alt=\"Connect to this instance of Dynamics 365\" width=\"496\" height=\"154\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.18-AM.png 496w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.18-AM-300x93.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 496px) 100vw, 496px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>Then log in to Power BI website using the same account as you are logged into in Dynamics 365.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>Open up the sidebar menu and go to \u201cGet Data.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>Under the Content Pack Library, chose \u201cServices\u201d and press \u201cGet.\u201d That will bring up the following screen:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11286 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.33-AM.png\" alt=\"Get Data\" width=\"554\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.33-AM.png 554w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.33-AM-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>This will open the <b>AppSource Library<\/b>, where you can search for the content pack or scroll through the pages to the preferred one.\u00a0 For example, <b>Sales Analytics for Dynamics 365 <\/b>and select <b>\u201cGet it now.\u201d<\/b><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11287 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.41-AM.png\" alt=\"App Source\" width=\"552\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.41-AM.png 552w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.02.41-AM-300x144.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>Copy the Organization Data URL you saved in the notepad file and paste it into the first text box; now select a Fiscal Year End Month Number and click<b> Next.<\/b><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11288 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017-04-26_1259.png\" alt=\"Connect to Sales Analytics for Dynamics 365\" width=\"675\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017-04-26_1259.png 675w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017-04-26_1259-300x250.png 300w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017-04-26_1259-600x500.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><b><\/b>Wait for your data to be imported from <b>Dynamics 365.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now that we have successfully imported our content packs into Dynamics 365, we can enable and start adding Power BI to our dashboard.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Enable Power BI<\/h2>\n<p>To add Power BI to our dashboard in Dynamics 365, we must make sure Power BI is enabled on it. To do this,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Login to Dynamics 365 as an administrator.<\/li>\n<li>Under <b>Settings<\/b>, click on<b> Administration<\/b> -&gt; System Settings -&gt; Reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Check the option \u201cP<b>ower BI visualization embedding<\/b>\u201d and make sure that this is set to\u00a0<b>Yes<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11289 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.05.09-AM.png\" alt=\"System Settings\" width=\"522\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.05.09-AM.png 522w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-16-at-10.05.09-AM-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 522px) 100vw, 522px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click <b>Ok<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Adding a Dashboard with Power BI<\/h2>\n<h5>To add a Dashboard with Power BI:<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>In the <b>Dashboard<\/b> area, click on <b>New <\/b>to create a new dashboard. This is because security doesn\u2019t apply to Power BI as it does in Dynamics 365, considering the fact that they are two separate
