The pandemic forced many people to work remotely and many companies are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/partner\/msp-in-the-post-pandemic-economy\/\">still struggling<\/a> to come up with new strategies for data security. We sat down with him recently to learn more about Microsoft 365 tips and opportunities, as well as some lesser-known features you can use to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/partner\/channel-forecast-2021\/\">grow your business in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Please note this interview has been condensed for clarity.<\/em><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><em>Explore how Sherweb can help your business grow with our <a class=\"track-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/partner-guide\/\">Partner Guide<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Microsoft 365 tips and opportunities for resellers<\/h2>\n<h3><strong>What are the biggest problems end users have with Microsoft 365 these days?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex<\/strong>: The biggest problem I would say is getting their money\u2019s worth. They know there\u2019s a hundred different services included, but they\u2019re only using five and they\u2019re very frustrated. They know that all these features; all the dashboards are there, all the bells and whistles are there. They just don\u2019t know how to use, deploy or take advantage of any of them.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What are some of the best Microsoft 365 features you\u2019ve found? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex<\/strong>: Most of these little-known features have only been available with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/office-365\/azure-ad-premium-p1-for-microsoft-365\/\">Microsoft Business Premium<\/a> since last April. That\u2019s why a lot of MSPs don\u2019t know about them. But once they do learn what\u2019s available, they\u2019re pretty amazed. I think the main features we can get excited about are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en\/microsoft-365\/enterprise-mobility-security\">Enterprise Mobility Suite<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/deployoffice\/overview-shared-computer-activation\">Shared Computer Activation<\/a>, upgrading to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/business\/set-up-windows-devices?view=o365-worldwide\">Windows 10<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/mem\/autopilot\/windows-autopilot\">Windows Autopilot<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/mem\/intune\/fundamentals\/what-is-intune\">Intune<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"cta-track\" href=\"https:\/\/info.sherweb.com\/microsoft-365-7-things-to-know.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-22517 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-7tips-ebook-V1a-1456x180px.png\" alt=\"Microsoft 365 Tips eBook\" width=\"1456\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-7tips-ebook-V1a-1456x180px.png 1456w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-7tips-ebook-V1a-1456x180px-300x37.png 300w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-7tips-ebook-V1a-1456x180px-1024x127.png 1024w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-7tips-ebook-V1a-1456x180px-768x95.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1456px) 100vw, 1456px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Are MSPs are doing enough to promote all the features in Microsoft 365 Business Premium?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex: <\/strong>MSPs are very interested in talking to their end customers about all these features they may or may not know about. But they&#8217;re unsure about how to deploy all of these features, how to manage them and how to promote certain things. Pretty much all MSPs are desperately trying to find resources to scale up, to train their people, to get educated and to find tools to educate end clients. It\u2019s the top priority.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How can MSPs get help? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex:<\/strong> I do my best to find all the best resources, the best assets available from Microsoft so I can connect point A to point B for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/partners\/\">partners<\/a>. I help them find out where this training is and where those demo environments are. Then they have to go through the process with blood, sweat and tears to learn. I also provide partners with free internal use licenses so they can do the proof of concept internally. By using the product internally, whenever they\u2019re talking to clients they know about fringe cases, little quirks and things like that. That\u2019s been very, very successful.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What&#8217;s your favorite feature?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex:<\/strong> Shared Computer Activation! I can\u2019t mention it enough, because I always come out the hero. This feature gives users in Microsoft 365 Business Premium access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/cloud-server\/remote-desktop-service-rds\/\">Remote Desktop Services<\/a>. Until April of last year, you couldn\u2019t use Office applications with remote desktop unless the user had an Enterprise level license that included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/office-365\/office-365-is-now-microsoft-365\/\">ProPlus<\/a>. This meant users could only install and activate the Office 365 business client on five devices. Luckily, that has changed. It really is the one tip that we can\u2019t emphasize enough because the market right now\u2014working from home, security concerns, etc.\u2014really makes Business Premium shine.<\/p>\n<p>I go on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Office365\/\">Reddit<\/a> all the time and half the threads are from partners telling each other, \u2018You have to stick with Office 365 E3 if you need to use RDS or a terminal server.\u2019 I can\u2019t be there all the time to say \u2018No, it\u2019s already there,\u2019 but at least I can tell our partners about it. Also, just knowing about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/office-365\/windows-7-end-of-life-eol-how-will-you-help-your-clients\/\">upgrade rights to Windows 10<\/a> became a paradigm shift. We\u2019re talking about a hardware upgrade, getting the right operating systems from the provider, the right type of licenses. Everything else will be done magically, so to speak. Using Intune and Windows 10 Pro with the Autopilot feature makes the out-of-box experience for the end user completely seamless.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How should MSPs present these features to clients?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex:<\/strong> If it\u2019s an existing client, it\u2019s always good to start with the situation they\u2019re facing right now. MSPs can expect clients to be receptive to upgrades and upsells if they start the conversation by talking about value. You have to look at your clients\u2019 pain points: users, data, applications, devices. You have to tell them, \u2018If you don\u2019t take care of these four categories and you\u2019re working remotely, you\u2019re at risk.\u2019 And Business Premium is the first SKU that encompasses all of them.<\/p>\n<p>So, since it\u2019s the hero SKU that partners want to promote, having the conversation around \u2018What are you doing to manage your users, what are you doing to manage your data, your devices, your applications? If you don\u2019t have the EMS (Enterprise Mobility Suite), those apps could be introducing malware into your environment. But if you have Business Premium, we can enroll just the Enterprise apps so that anything the user does with his personal device that\u2019s work-related is segregated from anything personal.\u2019 Having those conversations in a very granular way with tons and tons of real-life examples pertaining to their business makes it so that end customers tend to say, before the end of the conversation, \u2018Okay, let\u2019s do this now. Sign me up. Whatever it is, I want it now. Let\u2019s get this going.\u2019<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What kind of profits can MSPs make by promoting these features? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex: <\/strong>During our Microsoft consultations at Sherweb, we talk about the bottom line for the partner and how all these scenarios, which promote the best advice for the end client, also give them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/partner\/microsoft-partner-incentives-coop-funds\/\">better incentives and better margins<\/a> for all these products. Microsoft 365 Business Premium is being heavily promoted by Microsoft right now. There&#8217;s an extra 19% that you can get from Microsoft on top of your provider discount when you\u2019re enrolled properly and you follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/partner.microsoft.com\/en-ca\/membership\/partner-incentives\">guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>We\u2019ve talked a lot about Business Premium. Are there other features in Microsoft 365 that MSPs should know about?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex: <\/strong>There\u2019s still quite a few. The <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/compliance\/unlimited-archiving?view=o365-worldwide\">unlimited archiving<\/a> is one that comes to mind. But I\u2019d say that if we stretch the definition of the word \u201cfeature\u201d you could say that one thing MSPs should know is that Microsoft 365 is one of the most incentivised licenses on the backend.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Do you think we\u2019ll be seeing other new features for Microsoft 365 in the near future?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Alex: <\/strong>There\u2019s always a million new features in the pipeline, but one great way to find out if a feature you\u2019re looking for is on the horizon, is to take a look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/roadmap?filters=\">Microsoft 365 Roadmap<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what I found:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sherweb.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-Tips.png\" alt=\"Microsoft 365 Roadmap\" width=\"946\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-Tips.png 946w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-Tips-300x47.png 300w, \/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/M365-Tips-768x121.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 946px) 100vw, 946px\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Get help from Sherweb<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As you can see, there are a lot of great ways to convince your clients to make the jump to Microsoft 365, especially Business Premium.
